Who tells AI about your shop?

Shopify now keeps store facts for AI agents inside the admin. New drafts need approval, while some existing facts have already been published during migration.

Shopify has moved its Knowledge Base into the admin, bringing the store information supplied to AI shopping agents under Sales channels → Agentic → Knowledge base. Its 26 October announcement sets 15 January 2027 as the end of availability for the standalone app.

The important distinction is between new drafts and migrated information. Shopify prepares new facts from published storefront pages and links them to their source. Those drafts stay unpublished until the merchant approves them.

Existing app users should check the migration rather than assume everything is still a draft. The current Help Center says that stores with 1,000 or fewer facts had their custom additions and overrides transferred and published automatically. Above 1,000 facts, merchants need to add the information they want to retain manually before the app is retired.

For a European shop, our practical check is simple: review one delivery answer, one returns answer and the contact details against the pages customers actually see. If your terms have changed, check both the source page and the published fact. This is an editorial checklist, not a test of the feature.

Treat this as control over the information supplied about your business, not a promise of more customers. Shopify’s Help Center explicitly distinguishes accurate answers from appearing more often in AI results. Neither the announcement nor this briefing establishes a sales uplift.
